Thursday 10th May

In Germany, Robbie Kruse’s Fortuna Dusseldorf beat Nikita Rukavytsya’s Hertha Berlin 2-1 in Berlin to take a surprise lead heading into the 2nd leg of the German League Playoffs. Neither players saw any action, as both were unused substitutes.

In Austria, James Holland was an 88th minute substitute as Austria Wien consolidated 4th spot with a 3-1 win over Wiener Neustadt.

In the MLS, young midfielder Andy Rose played the full 90 minutes as the Seattle Sounders beat Dallas 2-0.

Friday 11th May

In China, Milan Susak played 90 minutes and scored his first goal for Tianjin Teda in their 2-0 win over Shandong Luneng. Susak scored on 70 minutes, nodding home Wang Xinxin’s cross. Elsewhere, Dino Djulbic played 90 minutes as Guizhou Renhe lost 2-1 to Beijing Guoan.

In the K-League, Sasa Ognenovski played 90 minutes as Seongnam beat Nathan Burns’ Incheon United 1-0. Burns was absent through injury.

In Uzbekistan, David Carney was absent from the match-day squad as Bunyodkor beat Olmaliq 2-0.

In the UAE Pro-League, Lucas Neill played 90 minutes in defence as Al Jazira slumped to a disappointing 3-2 loss to Al Wahda to put their Champions League qualification hopes in jeopardy.

In the Austrian Second Division, Richie Cardozo scored for Lask Linz in their 1-1 draw with Grodig. Cardozo played the full 90 minutes and opened the scoring on 28 minutes.

Saturday 12th May

In Germany, Mitch Langarek played a role in Borussia Dortmund’s 5-2 thumping of Bayern Munich to claim the German DFB Pokal Cup. Langarek was a 34th minute substitute as Roman Weidenfeller succumbed to a rib injury. Langarek was solid in goals for the remainder of the game, only conceding after Franck Ribery’s sublime effort found the bottom corner after 76 minutes.

In Italy, Carl Valeri played the final 12 minutes as Sassuolo’s promotion hopes took a hit with a 0-0 with lowly Livorno.

In Scotland, Aaron Mooy wasn’t in the match-day squad as St Mirren drew 0-0 with Aberdeen.

In the K-League, Luke Devere saw some rare game time, playing the full 90 minutes as Gyeongnam lost 1-0 to FC Seoul. Robert Cornthwaite played 90 minutes as Chunnam Dragons won 2-1 at Sangju Sangmu, Matt Simon missed the clash with a groin injury.

In the J-League, Josh Kennedy played 89 minutes and made an assist as Nagoya Grampus won 1-0 away to Vissel Kobe. Kennedy provided the cross for the winner scored by Kieji Tamada. Alex Brosque continued his good form with the equalising goal in Shimizu’s 1-1 draw with Cerezo Osaka. Brosque struck on 96 minutes with virtually the last kick of the game, poking home after a messy goal-mouth scramble. Jade North played 90 minutes as Consadole Sapporo  lost 1-0 to North’s former club, FC Tokyo. Elsewhere, Matt Spiranovic wasn’t selected as Urawa Red Diamonds beat Albirex Niigata.

In the Chinese Super League, Joel Griffiths was forced off with a knee injury in the first half as Shanghai Shenhua drew 0-0 with Shanghai Shenxin. Jonas Salley played the full 90 minutes for Shenxin.

In Indonesia, Andrew Barisic scored on 29 minutes as Arema drew 1-1 with PSM. Arema sit in 9th position after 12 games.

Sunday 13th May

In the English Premier League, Tim Cahill was a 74th minute substitute as Everton ended Newcastle’s Champions League hopes with a 3-1 win at Goodison Park. The match ended on a sour note for Cahill, who picked up a red card following an altercation with Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Cahill will serve a 3-match ban from the start of next season. Mark Schwarzer put in a full shift as Fulham ended the season in 9th position following a 2-0 loss to Tottenham. Chris Herd started for Aston Villa but was replaced at half time in Aston Villa’s 2-0 loss to Norwich to cap off a woeful season which cost manager Alex McLeish his job.

Brad Jones was an unused substitute as Liverpool finished their forgettable season with a 1-0 loss away to Swansea, while former North Queensland Fury ‘keeper Sebastien Usai made an appearance on the bench for relegated Blackburn as they lost 2-1 at Chelsea.   

In the Scottish Premier League, Ryan McGowan played 90 minutes as Hearts were thumped 5-0 by champions Celtic, with Gary Hooper scoring all 5 goals.

In Denmark, Nathan Coe played the full 90 minutes in goal for Sonderjyske as they threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with league leaders FC Copenhagen.

In Switzerland, Scott Chipperfield continued his rehabilitation from a groin injury, missing Basel’s 6-3 win over Grasshoppers.

In the K-League, Matt McKay continued his good form, playing 90 minutes and providing an assist as Busan I’Park beat Daegu FC 2-0. Eddy Bosnar played 90 minutes as Suwon Bluewings consolidated their position at the top of the K-League with a 4-1 win over Gwangju. Adrian Madaschi played 90 minutes but conceded a penalty as Jeju United beat Gangwon 4-2.

In the Chinese Super League, Rostyn Griffiths played 90 minutes as Guangzhou R&F beat former Adelaide United star Marcos Flores’ Henan Jianye 2-1. Mile Sterjovski played 90 minutes and played a hand in one of the goals as Dalian Aerbin beat Qingdao Jonoon 3-1.

In the Japanese Second Division, Mark Milligan came on after 66 minutes as JEF United thumped Machida Zelvia 6-1.

In the MLS, Andy Rose played 90 minutes as Seattle lost 1-0 to Real Salt Lake.

Monday 14th May

In the Indonesian Super League, former Sydney FC defender Jamie Coyne played 90 minutes and picked up a first half yellow card as Sriwijaya drew 2-2 with Persidafon.

Tuesday 15th May

In the German playoffs, Robbie Kruse’s Fortuna Dusseldorf were promoted to the Bundesliga while Nikita Rukavytsya’s Hertha Berlin were relegated as Dusseldorf won 4-3 on aggregate.  Kruse was absent from the match-day squad while Rukavytsya was replaced after 72 minutes. Rukavytsya did have a golden chance in the first half but found the side netting on his non-preferred right foot.

In the Asian Champions League, Sasa Ognenovski played 90 minutes as Seongnam booked their spot into the next round with a 3-0 win over Tianjin Teda. For Tianjin, Milan Susak was missing from the match-day squad. Elsewhere in the ACL, Josh Kennedy was rested to prevent further damage to his troublesome back as Nagoya won through to the next round with a 3-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners. Nagoya will face Adelaide United in the round of 16.

Wednesday 16th May

In the J-League Cup, Alex Brosque was rested as Shimizu S-Pulse beat Vissel Kobe 2-1. Jade North played 90 minutes as Consadole Sapporo drew 1-1 with Omiya Ardija. Elsewhere, Matt Spiranovic saw his first game-time of the season, playing 90 minutes as Urawa Red Diamonds beat Kawasaki Frontale 3-0.

In the Asian Champions League, David Carney was an unused substitute as Bunyodkor booked a spot in the round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Pohang Steelers. Elsewhere, Mark Bresciano was suspended as Al Nasr beat Lekhwiya 2-1 in the Group C dead rubber. Lucas Neill played 90 minutes as Al Jazira finished top of Group A following a 4-3 win over Al Rayyan.

In the Serie B, Carl Valeri played 90 minutes and picked up a first half booking as Sassuolo were thumped 3-0 by league leaders Torino. Sassuolo are 3 points off the automatic promotion places with 2 games to play.
