Array Rep Power:       45 Reputation:       6547 loved that paragraph. hope he comes here soon. i tweeted to him asking if he plans to come here but he never replied. that was my first tweet so I thought Donald was being a rude cunt but then I saw more than 360 000 followers. On his IAMDONALD tour this year, Childish Gambino displayed his versatility, rapping while accompanied by a full band for part of the show, but also performing stand-up. There's no denying that Glover's sound is unique: He can vibe to a romantic melody with live strings and piano in one song, then follow it up with a song heavy on bass and fire-alarm sounds. If there's one comparison that jumps to mind, it's Kanye West circa The College Dropout: not the media-baiting megastar we know today, but the insecure guy from a middle-class family who sounded grateful just to be alive.

Should come to a festival next year, would be crazy.
Not enough people know about him yet, but I think he'll blow up massively after this album.#FirstTakeCrew #TIACMB

Some reviews:
REVIEW: Childish Gambino – Camp | Under the Gun ReviewMany times, celebrities looking for crossover appeal have a hard time separating themselves from the image society already has of them, but not Gambino. Camp is a stand alone effort that surely continues to display ever-evolving growth, but also give you a completely a new side of an artist that millions are already familiar with. Not looking for radio play or cred in the scene, Camp is one of the most personal albums I’ve heard in my entire life and has the advantage of being accompanied by dance-ready beats created from live instrumentation. You could say it’s an organic record, but that would make it seem simple. Camp is the result of hard, hard work and no one can deny the impact time and effort had on the outcome. Find this record, no, find three copies of this record and buy them all as soon as you can. Keep one for yourself and give the other two to people who need to remember the power music can possess.
Score: 9.5/10
Childish Gambino 'Camp' Album Review | Rap DoseThe entirely self aware, sarcastic and edgy individual that is Donald Glover has an unexampled sound. The fact that his lyrics are the most honest I’ve heard in a while blows me away, considering we have artists like Drake who have made it cool or acceptable to be vulnerable in music now. That and his own ability to produce (which also shines brightly here) means this project is nothing short of great. Although shorter than Culdesac (his best project up until now), Gambino does manage to improve on damn near every level and show he has a sound he has made his own. Granted, every artist has room for improvement and this is far from the perfect album, as there are moments of weakness that don’t always keep my attention (Keep Up, although good, may have the listener lose focus on the project) among other little things, but the good out weighs the bad on this without a doubt. New listeners might be greeted a bit harshly by the project as it’s not as easy to get into as Culdesac or EP is but Regardless of what you may think, it is a fact that Childish Gambino succeeds in taking someone into his world while he tells his stories of life, love and Summer Camp. I’m ready to go back. Hopefully November 15th when the project is released in stores, you all will go to Camp with me, Glover surely deserves it.
Timeless Tracks: Bonfire, Heartbeat, L.E.S., You See Me (UCLA)
Overall: 8/10
First Listen: Childish Gambino, 'Camp' : NPRIf you listen to Camp on a computer, do yourself a favor and open up Wikipedia and Urban Dictionary in separate tabs. Childish Gambino's lyrics are so dense with analogies and comedic references that you'll need those reference guides to decode some of his verses. While his lyrical content is fresh, he consistently circles back to a handful of topics: the trials and tribulations of high school, the feeling of never being "hard" enough or "black" enough to satisfy his peers, the many people who have called him gay, and his fondness for Asian women.
That said, it's the rapper's honesty that keeps things interesting. Glover owns his nerdiness and wears his insecurities on his sleeve. Nowhere is this theme displayed more clearly than in the album's outro, in which he brings listeners right onto the bus with him as he comes home from summer camp at age 13, and tells a story that perfectly evokes the universal sting of rejection. Where does Childish Gambino fit into the the royal bloodline of rap? He characterizes himself best in a line from "Bonfire": "Rap's stepfather — yeah, you hate me, but you will respect."
Interested to see if pitchfork do a review, think they will murder him for the "pitchfork only care about rappers if they're crazy or hood" line.#FirstTakeCrew #TIACMB

Array Rep Power:       45 Reputation:       6547 thats some very good reviews, that Under the gun reviewer is more excited than us haha. Do think him doing a festival would be better for him then his own tour. A lot of people still don't know him but he seems like the type of guy who would be amazing live. So many people I know love Community but don't know he's a rapper. Always impresses them when they find out how talented he is.
