Following on with the Mafioso theme, Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… comes in at number 9. The album responsible for bringing Mafioso rap to mainstream, and the godfather of countless albums after it, the themes incorporated into Cuban Linx are fairly standard for the Mafioso sub-genre, with crime and high living common themes in most tracks. The album is a semi-concept album (term used loosely) which sees two gangsters (Rae and Ghostface) grow tired of the criminal life and try to move on with their lives. Before they can do that however, they have to pull off one more heist. Backed by consistently incredible RZA production, Rae crafts vivid, complex and gripping tales with his superb flow and penchant for incredible lyrics. One of the most influential albums in rap music history.
