Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 The DarKnighT debut album anticipation thread.
Alright, so I may be the only one that is anticipating this because I am the only one who knows about it...until now. DarKnighT is my little project I have been working on for a little while now and there is still much to be done, but I thought I might share a lo-fi version of what will be the opening track. Disregard the title as it is just a little joke.
It would seem that slashing the bit rate has raped it of some of the bass in it, but hopefully you get the idea of what is to come.
Thoughts, comments, all appreciated. Just remember that this is just a small opening track and the rest of the songs will be longer and more complex. They will however for the most part be dark and moody like this one.Jimmies Status

Array Rep Power:       46 Reputation:       8171 It's ok. When I heard the first note I got excited and began expecting some really slow and heavy drone doom... But you sort of went away from that

Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. WolfGang there will be elements of heavy drone "doomish" songs in there but I don't think I could stand doing a whole song like that. Sorry.
There are a couple of other songs that are almost done and a few others that still need work. I hate thinking that I have done something really good and move on to another song and then come back for another listen a few days later and discover I hate one or two of the parts. It is very frustrating.Jimmies Status

Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 I have a track that doesn't go with my other stuff for the album (I started mucking around with it when i got stuck on other songs), but there is something there. Just wondering what other people's thoughts are on it. I might actually expand this and make it proper if people think there is something there.

Array Rep Power:       55 Reputation:       8554 Sounds alright, i hate the slight plop thats on the synths at the start, and are you using any sort of instrument processing on the drums? Think they could afford to sound crisper - bar the hi hat stuff which needs some volume fluctuation to make it sound a bit more natural.
The horns sound very ska-ish, which is cool. If i could make a suggestion it would probably be to extend what they're playing a bit more often and fill in the bar a bit more - you do it once with the horns but it could afford to be done more... Since the hi-hats cut out, and the rhythm is very systematic, it could be good to break that up a bit. Melodically, i'm not gigantically feeling the horn break's change (that is the 1/4 odd time's that it lasts the full bar) if it were me i would give it a walk up the major scale for 3 or so steps. But thats just me.r8 4 reps

Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 I hear what you are saying. Might change a bit in the middle with the horn (it is actually a filtered sax) and like you say, take it for a walk a little bit. In reality it was something I was playing with and it turned into something a bit more. I will put more thought into breaking the beat down a little in the middle and having some fun.
Thanks mate.Jimmies Status

Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 This is a completely raw, unedited and unmastered version of what will be the final track on the album. I still have a few mistakes to edit out and fix but this will give you an idea of how it will end. I wanted to mix it up after most of the tracks being a bit dark and moody and just give it a happy ending. see if you like it.

Array Rep Power:       35 Reputation:       4975 Thanks a lot mate. It still needs a bit of cleaning up and I will probably have to re-record some of it, but it basically is the final structure. Maybe I will leave the horns in just for you then, eh. I had another listen to that bit you reckon is sped up. There is a couple of timing mistakes in there but nothing feels "sped up". Might have to listen on soundcloud again as it might have uploaded weirdly.
Anyway, thanks for taking a listen and giving your thoughts.Jimmies Status
