Some of things that I found last time I played that could be useful/hilarimouse:
If you perform a shout in the College of Winterhold you'll get an anonymous letter telling you to visit some fort.
At one of the giant camps near Whiterun there's some dude bringing a cow to sacrifice to the giants so they'll leave him alone. They ended up killing him
On the road out of Winterhold some drunk guys will give you free mead

Array Rep Power:       56 Reputation:       8866 “Hi, been enjoying lots of the ‘Skyrim stories’ that people have been posting, thanks for some great reads! Here’s one of mine: I had just been given a quest, in which I had to kill a group of mages hiding in a castle. It was proving quite difficult, so I decided to Werewolf that shit, killing a few of the mages. However, my health also got pretty low after a while, so I decided to sprint off into the nearby hills and wait until I transformed back. After healing myself I began the approach towards the Mage’s hideout once more, in stealth mode with a bow. Suddenly I noticed I had been spotted, and saw someone sprinting towards me from the direction of the hideout. Panicking, I let loose an arrow, which went right through his leg and almost killed him in one hit. When I got closer to him, I came to the realisation that not only was he in no way affiliated with the rogue mages, but he was in fact just a courier braving the wilderness to make a delivery. He could no longer walk, let alone run, and crawled past me, desperate to complete his journey. I realised that if he made it back to civilization I would become a known criminal. I decided to follow him for a short while; he never made a move to fend me off, but occasionally exclaimed things like “Please… leave me alone”. I noticed that we were now the only living things for miles around, and decided it best to finish him off there and then. I shot him in the back of the head with an arrow. Before rolling his body off a cliffside, I decided to inspect what he was carrying. Besides his clothes, all he had on his person were some flowers. I have never felt such a strong sense of guilt from a video game.”

Array Rep Power:       23 Reputation:       3653 The patch is out which stops the lag.
Oh and on the Greybeards, I tried when I was level 10ish, amd just couldn't find where the hell to go.
I'm now level 28/29, and instead of going up the stairs like I had read, I got my horse and just walked up the massively steep bit on the South side. Horses can walk up heaps steeper parts than you can just walk.
Was super surprised I actually got to the top, it took no time at all.
I made myself some dragon armour which is cool and have a Daedric bow and sword which I get around with as well as a Mace thing I got from a mission. Also the head of the Companions, the Dark Brotherhood and I'm the Archmage.
Level 28 and I have only really done an hourish on the main quest. Love this shit.
