Could easily build a sweet gaming desktop for $1500 if you build it yourself. Search online for the gear you want. Collate all the cheapest prices you find into a spreadsheet. Take it into your local computer store (we have PLE and Austin in WA). Ask to buy one of the parts, inevitability he will ask you what else you have on the list and will offer to beat it.

    Done.

If you buy all your parts from Austin computers you can probably get them to build it too.
Doubt PLE would do that though

Yeah agreed. PLE would charge a fee.

It is not that hard to do it. Guys here or on overclockers will help you out as well.

    Bump.
Need advice for a new laptop.
I'm pretty much sold on this one ASUS - Notebooks- ASUS X53SD
It has everything I'll need, and found it for ~$700 so seems to be a pretty good price, doubt I'd find anything for that price with a graphics card anywhere else. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on it or any alternative suggestions in that price range.
Currently using a Dell that I bought 4ish years ago while doing year 12, it's on it's last legs and it's definitely time for an upgrade.

Edit: specs for the one I'm currently looking at for those too lazy to click the link!

Series: ASUS X53SD - White in Colour
Operating System: Windows 7 Pro 64Bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 2450M 2.5GHz Turbo Boost To 3.1GHz

Laptop HDs are terrible @ 5400RPM, if you get a SSD, you'll see 6x faster day-to-day tasks. Other than that, the laptop is mint.

Doubt she is going to be anything that intense that is going to justify spending more money tbh.
I tell her make me a sandwich, no PB & Jelly
She look back like "Goddamn, what you think this? A deli?"
I'm screaming "Hell yeah trick, Hell yeah ho"
That shit make her love me more, and she know I love her too

My dell is starting to shit itself after 4 years so time to look for a new laptop.

Found this one from JB it looks alright but dont really know much about computers, wouldnt mind a second opinion.... Samsung 15" Notebook - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Ultrabook, iPad, Tablet & Netbook Computers - JB Hi-Fi - Smashing Prices!

Main uses are streaming vids, tia and downloading stuff. Battery doesnt worry me I'll keep it plugged in most of the time.
