I have the most aloof Golden Retriever. She hates water, which I believe it fairly rare. Family will be sitting in the lounge room, she will be somewhere else. Sitting in the pool enclosure she will be inside or on the grass and hesitates coming in. Is 13 though, just does nothing all day now haha.

Not gonna lie, I don't know much about these apart from what I've read as I've never met anyone with one. What's its temperament like? Also looks like it has a perm haha.

Haha, my one is much softer and curlier.

Temperament isnt the best in the park but inside the house she is the most amazing dog ever.

Yeah you've definitely got to be strict with them when they're young. Once you've gotten over the silly puppy stage with them though, and they know that you're the boss, they're very well-behaved generally, and a lovely, loyal, friendly dog all round.

Had five of them over my lifetime, including two when I was a little kid (and they were as gentle as could be with me), and never had a problem behaviour-wise. Will be a great guard dog if needed, but almost like a giant, playful teddy bear with the family.

My staffy loves a swim, which is apparently pretty rare.

Doesn't surprise me, he's really shit at swimming. Has got a lot better though, before he'd struggle to keep above water because his back legs move so slowly. Up until maybe a month ago he always played it safe near the steps too, now he goes to the other side of the pool.

Would agree with this. They're great dogs though, I love them, just disagree about the 'manliest' mantle. Caucasian Ovkarcha would outstrip every dog alive for that.

Massive myth that all rotties are dumb from my experience, they can be the stupidest dogs ever (our current one was declared mentally disabled srs) but alot of them are very intelligent.

lel, i am semi- pulling the piss with that claim. But really, as far as guard dog / family pet combo's go they're probably one of the greatest. (As long as you train them right, any abuse in their history and they can be quite dangerous)
