Does anyone else here use the Hammer Strength plate-loaded shoulder press? Crosby2Malkin and I felt like a change from dumbbells so we've been doing that for the last 5-6 weeks. Managed 70kg to 5 reps today on the 5th set. Painful stuff.

Array Rep Power:       37 Reputation:       6868 Tried a slightly modified version of Plitt's chest routine. Given time constraints I had to take out one superset (I think). All the exercises I completed were from his chest video and all up I did 5 supersets (10 exercises in total).
When I got to my last set of decline press (did dumbbells instead of bench) I was struggling on 12.5kgs
dat fatigue
That first cable exercise superset is savage.

r dub or Dagger are you gyming today, if so what time?
I also need some creatine Dagger
Been doing some reading on it and pretty much have been doing my creatine cycles incorrect.
Really have to focus on 20-30g of creatine for loading as it only works when it has completly saturated the muscles and declines over time. After the first week a maintenance of 10g is required, preferably 5g before and 5g after a workout.

Mad as fuck right now. You know how I have been banging on about the old equipment etc? Today a dude was doing mid rows when the whole pulley-cable system just completely snapped. It's okay for the guy by himself who isn't near the weight/pulley but when we do it one of us stand right next to the weight so we can drop it for dropsets. Had it snapped when we were doing mid-rows there is every chance the cable would have hit the person changing the weights.
A couple of the guys working there came over smiling about it and I went over and said 'when are we getting new equipment? It's a bit of a joke. If we were doing that exercise we would have likely been hit by the cable, I know you want to keep costs low but it's going to cost you a lot more if someone is seriously injured...' One of the guys is smiling in my face (shit i don't like) , the other said 'yeah we're trying to replace the new machines it's all about the budget, there is nothing we can do for cables they snap even if the machine is new'. I said 'there is a considerably less chance the cable will snap if it's on a newer machine is it not?', dude says 'It's the cable that snaps it has nothing to do with the machine'. Once again I said 'you don't think there is a smaller chance the cable/pulley will snap if the equipment is new in comparison to older equipment'? He just walks off and mutters some shit. He tried to blame it on people putting extra weight (20kg) on the machine which is garbage as no one in our gym could do that much.
The other guy said the equipment is 13 years old....
I don't care if businesses cut costs in some areas and overcharge in others but there should never be any cutting corners with regards to a consumer's safety. Next time there boss is in I'm going to have a chat, more thank likely moving gyms tbh. For awhile now I've been worried about a cable snapping and it did- luckily not while we were using a machine.
As for their 'budget', I'd say the cost of painting the gym would be over 5k+ shows they had the money to invest in new equipment but would rather put wallpaper over the cracks, no pun intended.#FirstTakeCrew #TIACMB

Array Rep Power:       47 Reputation:       4973 How much are you paying per week r dub? A couple of extra bucks a week at a much better gym is usually worth it. You are completely right though, when the equipment starts becoming dangerous it's time to get out of dodge. Last thing you want is equipment breaking in the middle of a set and risking injury.
Seriously can't believe the value Crosby2Malkin and I are going to get at the new one given the current one is still pretty damn awesome in its own right.
