after even living abroad for what is a really insignificant amount of time and talking to people from other countries has really opened my eyes.

i dont agree with alot of the spending policies of the labour government, nor the fact that WA gets ripped off with the GST however we have done remarkably well to avoid the GFC.

Australia is and will remain one of the greatest nations on earth to live, and imo Perth is currently the best city on earth to earn money.

People will always find a way to complain regardless of the situation

Not the same as archiemoses' story but it reminded me of a story I heard about Akermanis. Could be and most likely is bullshit (made up by Aker), but ood story anyway.

Well Aker played quite a few games for a team called Glenorchy last year and one of the boys told me this:

Akermanis is in the States for a big sponsorship meeting with an American sporting company (maybe Champion?) and things weren't going well. He went to the urinal and standing next to him was Don King. Aker introduced himself, and told Don about the meeting and asked him if he could get some help.

Aker walks back into the meeting. A few minutes later Don walks in, "Oh geez, is that Jason Akermanis from Australia? Brownlow medalist?"

Jason stood up and replied with, "Fuck off Don, can't you see I'm in a meeting!"

Apparently after that the talks went smoothly and he got an awesome deal.
