Array Rep Power:       10 Reputation:       1343 He is very much like BT, a colour commentator. You don't expect him to say anything particularly insightful or enlightening, but he has personality, a great enthusiatic attitude and voice which accompanies the more straightline commentators very well.

Array Rep Power:       18 Reputation:       1592 Plenty of other shows that talk football. Sunday version of the show for example.
Why talk football for 2 hours when you have someone like Sam Newman at your disposal?
How exactly are the audiences switching off? TFS has been dominating for years, which is crazy since they r on so late.
It was lame shit when Eddie hosted.
It seems to b a fashion to make out you hate TFS, but many I know that say it still watch it."I'm a dinosaur, an absolute dinosaur. But what I am is a winner" - Sir Alex Ferguson

Array Rep Power:       59 Reputation:       7259 Yeah and the Sunday one is a far better version in my opinion, despite the utter terrible-ness of Matthew Lloyd. Why talk football? Uhh it's The Footy Show, maybe? Look at the volume of people here on this site that say they hate TFS, we're a pretty small section of the AFL Community and I'd say there are many, many thousands of people that would rather, and choose to watch shows that are actually based on AFL, not on cheap laughs from the bogan community*.
It's got nothing to do with being "in fashion" to be honest mate, I want to watch football shows that actually talk football, that's all.
*not calling you a bogan.

Array Rep Power:       18 Reputation:       1592 That's fair enough, but there are at least 5 different shows (assuming you have foxtel) that purely discuss football throughout the week.
The show is called the footy show, very true, but it's designed to show off everything to do with football. The includes the fans, players, coaches, personalities etc...
Street Talk - Fans
Almost Football Legends - Country/Local Footy
The show goes through each game with predictions. It discusses the main issues of the week, and 99% of the time gets the perfect guest for the topic.
It has journalists all over each topic, which at least 5-10 minutes of serious talk if that's what you're into.
Many ppl imo just hate Sam, which is fair enough. I don't understand what's to hate tho? He speaks his mind, and creates headlines, which is his job. John and Sam Newman are 2 different people, something I have experienced first hand."I'm a dinosaur, an absolute dinosaur. But what I am is a winner" - Sir Alex Ferguson

Array Rep Power:       59 Reputation:       7259 Sam was the only reason I used to watch it, sadly even he has been forced into censoring himself and I too can speak of the difference between TV Newman and real life Newman. No question he dumbs himself down for the television audience and to increase his own image, (looks dumb so people go omg I hate that guy hes so stupid) when in reality he's a smart guy who has a great football brain.

Array Rep Power:       54 Reputation:       8872 Don't watch TFS or listen to MMM so no comments there but at North he's fucked up massively in the last month IMO.
He was absolutely vital as the public figurehead/blokey bloke/rallying point type leader in 2007 and probably is still equally important. But in order to have a president like him, they needed an absolutely brilliant CEO. Arocca was that guy, and Brayshaw had to accept that because of his career in the media etc (away from business) he needed another guy from the opposite side of the coin, who could capitalise on the extra support Brayshaw has brought in. By all reports Arocca was that guy and more to the point left because he wasn't part of the boys' club. North are going to struggle to get someone as good, all because of Brayshaw's ego IMO.Well, Your Honor. We've plenty of hearsay and conjecture. Those are kinds of evidence.

Array Rep Power:       17 Reputation:       3025 I haven't had too much interaction with him really so I don't know him that well. Could probably say that about the rest of the board really but that's a different story.
He seems like a very loyal person, which is probably where the boys club quotes come from. Although funny story, after Crocker got mentioned as part of that, all the other assistants haven't stopped hanging shit on him. It's glorious, you can always hear it from a mile away (i.e. Crocker being in the group is completely untrue).
He's always been nice to me, knew my name pretty much straight away which was a nice ego boost considering it apparently took him months to remember my manager's name. Do agree with Stanton that he's been pretty poor with the whole Euge situation, but it has led to more of him around the office so that can only be a good thing.
Also, he possesses the hardest handshake of anyone I've met. After I met him and shook his hand, I spent the next ten seconds hiding my hand behind my back so I could shake some feeling into it
