"Homie, maybe we should go inside."
"But, Marge, that little guy hasn't done anything yet. Look at him. He's going to do something and you know it's going to be good."

Array Rep Power:       54 Reputation:       8787 Came away from that game with the knowledge that Ross Lyon will take Fremantle to the top.
They played the best attacking team in the competition, and the best spread team in the competition. To give them 8 goals from turnovers, many of them really uncharacteristic (Fyfe in particular) and still restrict them to 65 points demonstrates that Lyon's defensive structures can stifle anyone. Meanwhile at the other end, I mentioned earlier in the week that Freo had excellent firepower up forward, and tonight proved that. They spent huge portions of the game not trying to score, they butchered the ball on the transition and they still managed to produce 22 scoring shots plus a few others (out on the full and a couple which fell just short). I don't have the stats, but I imagine their inside 50s weren't high, and of those, a lot were very shallow (i.e. 40-50m out, not penetrating at all). Structurally, Freo's transition was fantastic, but with the ball in hand their skills were just that little bit off which is why they lost the game.
I'd be surprised if Freo aren't playing Grand Finals over the next 2-3 years.Well, Your Honor. We've plenty of hearsay and conjecture. Those are kinds of evidence.

Array Rep Power:       75 Reputation:       7408 When we weren't actually good (inb4 now)... Betts played out of the centre square a couple of times, this is when we had the likes of Stevens, Murphy was in his 2nd year, Gibbs in his first etc. He showed a lot of promise, but he never had the fitness base to play in there for more than 2 or 3 minute bursts.
He's not bad in there.

Array Rep Power:       38 Reputation:       3895 Carlton get out of jail tonight. The match should have been buried at Half Time when the Dockers kicked 7 behinds.

At the end of the day the good teams take their chances and win games like that. They're still terribly over-rated and won't win the flag like James Pattinson thinks they will (won't even make the GF, but we'll save that for another day) - but they're one of the better teams.
