Array Rep Power:       19 Reputation:       2768 I can't understand the AFL's logic in their attempts of slowing the game down. They have always wanted this fast attractive brand of football. Then an increase in injuries leads to this rule change to make it look like they're improving their duty of care.
However in the mean time they make completely contradictory rule changes like playing on immediately from kick ins and these newer Holding the Ball interpretations which would n should normally result in a bounce (therefore slowing the game down) into a free kick.
There is a clear intention by umpire to make players play on at all costs n a reluctance to call a ball up. Constantly giving players an eternity n encouraging players to knock the ball out or alternatively pay a soft free kick searching for a high tackle/contact, in the back or sling tackles...
The ball up is a unique part of the game and the simplest way to slow down the game would be bouncing it another 15-20 times a game rather than penalize players with free kicks. It frustrates me that there isn't more during a game (our ruck dominance may impact my desire to change)
Then you've got the advantage rule which is a massive shambles also but also speeds the game up. As you can see i could go on for ages.

Shutup. If I wanted too I could come down there and beat you like a rented mule, or a mule for purchase. Bottom line is if there is livestock involved, ill beat you like it

Array Rep Power:       46 Reputation:       7943 I read this article Small argument: big games or fairer draw this morning and in a lot of comments people were using the billion dollar TV deal to justify the unfairness of the fixture. It seems to get used to justify other things as well.
My question: Is it really that important, isn't the AFL an NPO? Shouldn't the integrity of the game and competition come first?

Array Rep Power:       14 Reputation:       2556 I heard from a mate at work that the Bulls charged less for entry because Rose didn't play, should the same thing happen in the AFL, for example when Ablett doesn't play for the Suns?
Don't think it will ever happen but thought it was interesting.

R1 vs. Adelaide: 12,790
R2 vs. Essendon: 17,069 (in poor conditions)
It's something they could look at to get a few extra people through the gates, especially when Ablett isn't playing.
They have Freo, Port, St. Kilda, North Melb, Geelong, Brisbane, Sydney, GWS and Carlton to come at home.
Geelong will be pushing 22k, the Brisbane game will sell out and the Carlton game will push it.
For games against North, Freo and Port, GWS etc. etc. they really should look at lowering prices (not that it's very expensive anyway).

Array Rep Power:       31 Reputation:       4306 I'm considering driving down for one of those games, and I endorse lowering the prices.
