Array Rep Power:       80 Reputation:       8546 So you can change 99 traditions, just not the 100th. Its just a weak argument to not change it on those grounds
As I said before and I believe its true in almost every facet of life. Tradition is only kept around to keep unfair advantages in place.
The home of football should not have the term CRICKET in its name TBH. As sad as it is technically Ethihad Stadium is the actual home of football. Just throwing out a fact in there.
Make it a two legged Grand Final. First leg at AAMI/Subi/Gabba and the second leg at MCG. Rumblah can explain to me how that goes against the monetary making side of things. It doesnt
The only reason to oppose such a system is for tradition and fuck me if that isnt a weak ass reason to keep something in place.Shutup. If I wanted too I could come down there and beat you like a rented mule, or a mule for purchase. Bottom line is if there is livestock involved, ill beat you like it

Array Rep Power:       4 Reputation:       351 The MCG is the home of football. It's a ground with great history and it's sacred as far as football is concerned.
As I said, such history and undoubtedly one of the greatest stadiums in the world.
Having the grand final elsewhere would cheapen the occasion. The grand stage deserves the grand stadium.2012 wish list -

Array Rep Power:       16 Reputation:       2980 I'm sure people are interested in my day (and if you're not, then stiff shit).
As I walked into the media office this morning I noticed the other two members of the media team in my boss's office. At this point I'm thinking they must just be catching up with him, it's his first day back after being overseas for three weeks (poor dude).
Hop on the computer, check the Herald Sun and Age websites, nothing there. Sweet, no controversies. Get to doing some work. About 15 minutes later with just myself and the graphic designer in the office (don't ask me why the graphic designer is in the media office), the following takes place:
GD: Seen the article yet?
Me: Which one?
GD: The one in The Australian?
Me: Who the hell checks The Australian? (Probably wasn't my smartest move
)
So then read the article, get up to date just before my boss walks in and says g'day. Perfect bit of timing otherwise I would have been toast.
Anyway, a few hours of all the GM's and Donald McDonald (chief of football) running around later and we have a staff meeting with Brayshaw at 12:30, half an hour before the press conference started.
He says that Euge has quit, takes him 10 minutes to say that. Gives us absolutely nothing as to why it happened and then gives a disgusting diatribe about "we've all gotta be up now, stay positive".
Fuck off, the best thing to happen to the club since the start of '08 just left because of a boys club mentality (will get to that), and now there's some bullshit mumbo-jumbo about staying 'up'.
So then there's a 25 minute press conference which I have to tweet about (also made a mistake in one of the tweets that changed the context of it completely. Good job by me, but then JB went on his radio show later and said what I tweeted...typo worked out well in the end) and unsurprisingly it was a bland, nothing given, probably a few lies in there presser.Last edited by sXe; 5th June 2012 at 08:53 PM.

Array Rep Power:       43 Reputation:       7381 I wouldn't say always but for the most part yeah
The MCG is the coliseum of Australian sport, there's very few venues in the world that even come close let alone the pissant grounds in Australia. By keeping its name after all this time, it holds a lot more integrity and heritage than any sponsored grounds.
I've been reading people from Adelaide and Perth say how shitty AAMI and Subi are compared to Etihad for years and I've experienced first hand how ordinary the Gabba is. They're just not up to standard to host the premier event of the sporting the code. The only other ground that comes close is the SCG, maybe the SFS but neither are suitable grounds for playing and viewing. The MCG's perfect
By holding two grand finals you're completely changing the dynamic of the competition which requires further discussion than team travelling and ground suitability
EDIT: Not to mention that first official game of Australian Rules football was played on the Yarra Park outside the MCG

Array Rep Power:       47 Reputation:       4973 Sounds like an interesting day Rick18. Although ... are you really meant to be telling us all that? I mean, I'd have thought the contents of a board meeting with the president were meant to stay confidential. Not that I don't find it fascinating.
