$780,000. For a coin flip kick at goal.

They think Dangerfield is going to get ~$750,000 which would have made him the second highest paid player at the club.

Facts are he is still a marginal 50/50 kick for goal. You just don't have any confidence in him kicking it and just hope it goes straight, but expect it to miss.

I think he'll leave because there is no way the Crows will offer him much more than half of what he got last time. Why would he stay and take a massive pay cut? I wouldn't.
He won't get offered half, that's insane. This year has been a big improvement on last year. His stats are up on all areas. He won't see much of an increase (if anything) though.

That's great, they would've factored that into next years cap and left room to offer more if they justify it. He simply isn't a player you let walk.

We have arguably the best forward duo in the league and you want to let one walk because he is not as good as the other.

Everything is made in China. Except Tom Brady’s tears. We make those in Baltimore.

Dangerfield is going to get a big rise, Sloane is going to get a big rise, fair enough Thompson will probably go onto the veterans next season so half of his salary disappears - but do you seriously think we're that far under the cap? Doughty, Van Berlo, Reilly, Rutten, Johncock would all be on pretty pennies....

He shouldn't get much more than $450,000. More than half, but not even close to the ludicrous figure we had to pay last time. The one thing in his favour is having McLeod, Burton, Edwards and Goodwin off the cap this time, unlike when that deal was made in 2009.

But is Tippett in as much demand as he was a couple of years ago? Even last year? Some of that cash in the contract would have been based on potential, and he probably hasn't quite got to be as good as a lot of people might have thought. That would knock a bit off his price (or keep similair given increases in the cap) if he wants to play at a team which has prospects of success. And until Cloke re-signs or signs somewhere else he's not the best available.

Actually one of the highest paid players at the club incredibly.

I'd imagine Vince, Mackay, etc. aren't exactly on bread and water either. They would have signed new deals after big seasons in 2009 like the rest of them.

God no. The demand wasn't even there in 2009 when he signed that contract, nobody else was going to go after him. The demand was that a new club, based out of the city he was born in, were able to sign any uncontracted player they wanted to for massive contracts the year he came off contract. We had to overpay just to keep him away from Gold Coast.

Why was Watts ever included in this discussion?

    Taylor Walker is so dumb.

Doughty is no guarantee to play on next year. most of the others would all be on decent but none of them are flight risks.

veteran's list works differently now, only $100,000 of each players salary is deducted from the cap.

We'll afford him, I can't believe you two don't think he isn't worth it.

True, but that's counteracted by all the young blood in the system that needs to be paid

    Bullshit.

The GCS offered contracts to only two guys who turned them down. Tippett & Pavlich.

Tippett in late 2009 they got to the point where they offered him a deal he signed an extension.

Pavlich famously used them to play off against Fremantle to get his uber final pay day.

Knights and his $300,000 p/y leave, Thompson goes onto the veterans list and 50% of his salary disappears off the books, Tippett will take a marginal pay cut, but still on 600k. The Crows are going places, you'll hang to your best 22 and depth (minus Knights, who hasn't played a senior game this year anyway).

Then there's guys like Tambling and Symes who may be delisted, who will be on more than 150k too.

The only demand was Gold Coast, that was the point. We paid $780kp/a for that reason.

How does someone not rate a Tippett/ Walker combo? Seriously?

They have a lot of time to improve together and will figure out each others games more as well. They're already up there and based on this season, is there a better combination running around?

When one is off, the other is on. It's great for the Crows.

Big Sledge, I thought it was 25% for 10 year senior listed players at any AFL club or 50% for 10 year club veterans?
