Thought Kennet made some superb points in that interview on EMT. The AFL completely controls the media content, most of the stories being reported are pure PR spin, and not journalism when it comes to the discussing games governing body.

Great article by Rohan Connolly (who actually does hold the AFL to account, he slammed the AFL on the umpire twitter issue today) showing the 47 rule changes in 19 seasons.
It's enough of a problem for us who follow footy closely but how are potential fans from expansion areas like GC and western Sydney going to understand it. One of the reasons why soccer works and is able to infiltrate is how easy it is to understand and how little the rules change. If we're having a problem understanding holding the ball how are new fans going to get an understanding.

They are only now getting the most basic of technology to help with the broadcasting of games (HD, on screen graphics, stuff like that), which most of the world had like 10 years ago.Golf is stitched into my shirt

I agree with this but I'm on the fence a bit. Other sports are much more scale-able given their international popularity. But at the same time when you have the AFL saying 'in the next 5 years we might have games available online' it's just a bit of a joke. I find the AFL website to be extremely amateur hour as well.

Array Rep Power:       86 Reputation:       9677 I was surprised no one wrote a article how 7k were at the GWS and Richmond game and it seemed like a pro Richmond crowd. They were getting much louder cheers when they scored then GWS did
Shutup. If I wanted too I could come down there and beat you like a rented mule, or a mule for purchase. Bottom line is if there is livestock involved, ill beat you like it

Array Rep Power:       43 Reputation:       7317 as long as the AFL rules committee exists (with the committee made up of such luminaries like Luke Darcy
) it'll be a constant mechanism for change as in their mind it's their right to mess with the game instead of letting it evolve.
Example: Go the torp - AFL.com.au

I usually think Darcy gets a bit too much stick but after reading this he should never write an article again:
That is honestly the worst AFL-related content I've read in my life.Perhaps it is worth trialling a torpedo rule, where every spiral kicked successfully from outside the 50m arc gives the scoring team a free kick at the centre bounce rather than a ball up.
Or a couple of times a game, each team could elect to kick a torp from outside 50 with 12 points being awarded for a goal.
Or even make it compulsory for one full-back kick-in per quarter to be a torp.#FirstTakeCrew #TIACMB
