Array Rep Power:       40 Reputation:       5607 GWS "mini draft".
Team GWS draft rules explained.
7. Incentive to other clubs trading with Team GWS in the 2011 and 2012 post-season:
Team GWS to be given access to four 17-year-olds born in the January to April 1994 window, with all players to be traded to other clubs. Selections will be allocated to Team GWS so the club can trade for established players, but the club will not have access to these 17-year-olds. If the four trades are not completed in the 2011 post-season, the balance of up to four trades may be used in the 2012 trading period.

Array Rep Power:       40 Reputation:       5607 Link.QUICK FIX OR MIRAGE?
Want a quick fix for success?
Just trade for one of the GWS 17-year-olds, and you are sure to win a flag in a matter of years.
That is the message being pushed in recent weeks as the speculation about the youngsters reaches fever pitch.
For those who aren't aware, GWS is forced to trade off up to four of the players born in the first four months of the year to rival sides.
The names being bandied around are Perth onballer Jaeger O'Meara, North Ballarat's Brad Crouch, WA teens Shannon Taylor, Dayle Garlett and Chris Yarran and Bendigo's Jake Stringer.
Yet a word of caution.
If they will all be excellent players, they won't turn your club around by themselves.
Consider for a moment Gold Coast's 17-year-old picks, who were all in the same age bracket.
Piers Flanagan, Taylor Hine, Jack Hutchins, Hayden Jolly, Brandon Matera, Trent McKenzie, Tom Nicholls, Luke Russell, Matt Shaw, Josh Toy, and Maverick Weller.
McKenzie and Matera are the pick of them so far, with Toy likely to be a star when he develops a tank.
But if clubs would be prepared to swap first-round picks or veterans for them, they aren't comparable to No. 1 pick Tom Scully, Nick Riewoldt or Brendon Goddard.
Clubs will give up solid picks for the 17-year-olds and GWS will reap the reward because they can get mature-aged players into their club.
But if they are a handy little golden nugget for the Giants, they won't necessarily be the difference between boom or bust.

Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-new...#ixzz1SQt9erJYAt 17 he's not old enough to be drafted and can't play his first AFL game until 2013, but he's at the centre of some curious mind games between Greater Western Sydney, the AFL and the many clubs that want him. He's just made a decision on which many of them have been sweating.
Notorious_29 this should explain things for you.

Array Rep Power:       30 Reputation:       4109 I'm still a little confused. So basically, GWS have first dibs on all those players, but only 4 are allowed to be drafted? And the GWS is expected to take offers from other clubs for one of the picks?
