AFL Fantasy Draft League (Ultimate Footy)

After all this draft games I thought a few guys would be interested in participating in an Ultimate Footy competition.

From the website, “Ultimate Footy is a draft style fantasy AFL game that gives users full control over their fantasy footy experience. Coaches are able to create or join leagues where, unlike salary cap competitions, each AFL player can only be owned by one team in each league. A draft is used to distribute players to teams, which is where our unique live online drafts bring the experience to life. Teams compete week to week until the league premiers are crowned!”

So pretty much just like the draft here, it is just like dream team but of course each player can only be in one team. Scoring is the same as dreamteam (or can be changed) and the player positions are very similar.

I play in another league like this and it just makes things more interesting having such diversity in the teams. Last year one team looked certain to win before Josh Kennedy smashed the doggies and him and Embley brought him home. The swings can be massive.

The league I’m in is a ‘keeper league’ so every year we keep 18 players from our squad and the rest go back into the draft for next year. So if people would be interested we could do this.
It takes a bit of work to do the draft and stuff but if everyone can get on for one night it can be polished of really quickly.

Ok it is just a draft, then after that it is just like Dreamteam. There is a regular season where everybody plays each other Head to Head, then Finals etc. You can trade with other players. It also has the live updating like on the Dreamteam website.

With the amount of quality players we could keep this to 10 players? In our leage we have:

Squad size

34 players in total
21 playing each week:
6 backs, 8 mids ,1 ruck, 6 forwards

1 emergency for each position, who scores only if one of your starters doesn't play. Bench can be whatever you like. This can all be changed though.

At least with this one there is something happening after the draft. It runs all season. The guy who got me onto this and his mates hardly care about dreamteam anymore. Just with all the teams in dreamteam becoming so similiar it is really a breath of fresh air.

Do you use Ultimate Footy?

Pretty good site, trades are easy.

We started it with a few mates last year, but a couple were terrible and dropped off. So we are doing a re-draft this year, the chirp is great.
