I find it hard to believe that any club would just cop it sweet and move on from it with no ramifications to the coaching staff.
would be a dennis pagan situation with mick i think

Melbourne can't go backwards any further, they may stagnate and stay shit forever but they can't go backwards whether they get rid of Neeld or not.
You can only delist so many each year mate. What's the point in replacing Joel McDonald with pick 124?

By the same token, is it not the players job to have complete faith in the coach and carry out his plans to the best of their ability? To constantly lay the blame on Dean Bailey and (a highly successful assistant) Mark Neeld is pathetic and ridiculous.

Melbourne can go further backwards. In Round 13, when they lose to GWS, that will be further backwards.

They reason GWS will win that game, is one reason and one reason only. Heart.

The coach can't make people try. That's a purely player driven thing.

I wish we had players who wanted to try. Beamer, Davey, Green, Sylvia clearly don't give a shit right now

Also, for the last 4-5 years, the majority of the list has been developed under the idea that near enough is good enough. You can't say, that with that philosophy, there was a culture instilled within the playing group to push and better themselves. Why? Because it was ok to lose. We were developing a list, we didn't have expectations of winning. Those things would sort themselves out in a few years

Well guess what, they didn't. Turns out things like effort can be trained and if you don't push players in this regard then they don't push themselves on the field.

For the massive basket case Richmond have been all these years, even under Wallace they didn't think near enough was good enough. Every year they were pushing hard for wins and to play finals. Now it turns out Wallace had no idea to run a club and their list wasn't that good. But now that they have improved their list, the Wallace era players are continuing to push and improve because they weren't allowed to be lazy back then

Wallace had the choice between Hawthorn and Richmond. He was of the opinion their list was in better shape. Thanking the footballing gods he's the shittest dude alive.

I would have replaced MacDonald with 1124 because he is that bad.
