Because Liverpool would have been better off if Downing only played 30 minutes of football, and he cost £20m and is on ~70k p/w.

Monetary wise for sure he is worse, but Park Chu Young literally did nothing at all. Atleast Downing occupied grass (his best trait TBH)

First season in EPL + ACN final. Fairly sure any player that has that work load will burn out. Wouldn't talk about mentality when pretty much every player in the squad has choked over the last few years.

All true but the remarkable fact that Park Chu Young was so far behind in the pecking order, yet earnt so much in wages makes him a spectacular failure too

No, he isn't.

He barely played, yeah, they're paying him 50k p/w and he cost 3m. But given the fact that he didn't play, means he wasn't occupying a position that someone else would have been better off in.

But Downing cost 20m and was literally playing every match, occupying that spot from someone like Maxi, Bellamy, Downing or someone who is relevant and actually good at football.

A signing that doesn't do anything is a better signing than someone who does bad things.

TBH West Ham made a ton of signings that did nothing because they never played but they were still worse signings then any other team has experienced.

Very very harsh call on Gervinho. Copped a injury upon his return too and just didnt see the season out. Still young, will need to get fitter and will improve
