Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will look to continue his summer of spending with a move for Rennes' French international midfielder Yann M'Vila.
Chelsea have offered £45m for Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore, according to his club.
The Blues will turn their full attention to Porto midfielder Moutinho should they fail in their attempts to land Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez and Brazilian striker Neymar from Santos, both of whom they have been linked with recently.
However, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas's first signing at Stamford Bridge will be 17-year-old Barcelona striker Gael Etock.
This summer, the Catalan club have turned down "substantial" offers from England for midfield starlet Thiago Alcantara, says his father, who is also his agent. Arsenal, Manchester United and Bolton were all understood to be interested in signing the Spain Under-21 ace this summer.
Arsenal are lining up a club record bid for Anderlecht's highly-rated teenage striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Gunners remain keen on Bolton defender Gary Cahill. Wanderers want £17m for the player but Arsenal may offer Henri Lansbury or Ignasi Miguel in part exchange.
Tottenham want £20m-rated Athletic Bilbao and Spain striker Fernando Llorente, but Harry Redknapp has been told he must sell two of Robbie Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe first.
Tottenham are ready to rekindle their interest in Villareal's £35m-rated striker Giuseppe Rossi after his agent said a proposed move to Barcelona was "definitely off".
Liverpool are reportedly taking an interest in Manchester City midfielder Jamer Milner as reports circulate that the England international may not be happy at Eastlands.
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish wants Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips to fill the gap left by Ashley Young's move to Manchester United. He would also like to sign goalkeeper Shay Given from City, having lost Brad Friedel to Tottenham this summer.
Everton are lining up Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Niko Kranjcar as a possible replacement for Mikel Arteta, who could be heading to Spain this summer.
Everton are favourites to land former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd. Bothroyd left Cardiff on 23 May after failing to agree a new deal with the Welsh side and has been linked to numerous clubs in the past few weeks.
Italian side Lazio are poised to make a move for West Ham midfielder Julien Faubert.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce wants to continue his summer spending by signing defender Wes Brown from Manchester United. The Black Cats have already signed five players in the close season.
Bolton are considering a move for Rangers' Spanish striker Nacho Novo.
OTHER GOSSIP
QPR manager Neil Warnock has admitted the club are struggling to sign players for the upcoming Premier League season. "We've targeted a number of players during the last few weeks and although we've missed out on some, the board are continuing to work hard to assist me in bringing new additions to the football club," said Warnock.
Liverpool coach Steve Clarke admits the Reds may have to start the season without striker Luis Suarez and midfielder Lucas. The duo are currently on international duty in Argentina at the Copa America, which does not finish until 24 July, meaning they may need time to recover ahead of the Premier League kick-off on 13 August.
Midfielder Phil Neville is on the verge of a signing a contract that will keep him at Everton for the rest of his career. The former England international, 34, has 12 months left on his current terms.MANCHESTER UNITED 20/13 - THANKS SAF

Array Rep Power:       37 Reputation:       5192 There apparently is growing interest in Argentinian AM Erik Lamela. I have on very good authority from a River Plate fan I met last night (I've got two Argentines staying in my hostel room now, one River Plate and one Boca Juniors fan, but somehow best friends) that he will be awesome. Liverpool and Tottenham had a look at him but it seems Italy really wants him with Lazio, Milan and now Inter all having a crack. 15 million euros I have seen reported for a 19 year old that has never set foot outside of Argentina. Will see how good he gets.

Array Rep Power:       86 Reputation:       9677 Taarabt all but off to Paris St Germain. They have put in a 13.5 mill bid rising which is close to being accepted by QPR. Neil Warnock is trying to block it (hence the rumors of his departure yesterday) but it sounds like he has no choice but to accept it. Entertaining player lost.
Shutup. If I wanted too I could come down there and beat you like a rented mule, or a mule for purchase. Bottom line is if there is livestock involved, ill beat you like it

He's a good player, but relatively unproven at the top level.

Array Rep Power:       86 Reputation:       9677 PSG have Man City like money to throw around TD21. Would suit the Ligue 1 style of play too playing in a Gourcuff type role.
Its on SSN now but I think they are quoting the French media with the PSG president saying hes close to announcing the dealShutup. If I wanted too I could come down there and beat you like a rented mule, or a mule for purchase. Bottom line is if there is livestock involved, ill beat you like it

Array Rep Power:       2 Reputation:       108 13.5 could buy them a couple of decent proven top level players(if any are willing to go to QPR) so while a loss it's a good price for them imo.

Array Rep Power:       86 Reputation:       9677 QPR contrary to popular belief are actually fairly poor, especially when it comes to the wage side of things. They spend big on sign on fees/loan fees etc but tighten the purse when it comes to actually paying players a decent pop. For this reason alone no one is going to want to join them. I dont think they will change there wage structure by the looks of it even with EPL football so they will be asking players to come in and play on Championship football type wages. Its going to force Warnock to well dip into the Championship top players to fill his squad.

No kidding? I've heard very few people tout them as relegation contenders.

Array Rep Power:       86 Reputation:       9677 They are the most likely of the promoted 3 to stay up but in all reality the 3 that came up are probably going straight back down IMO
Swansea will improve the most out of any of the 3 promoted teams IMO because of there close links with Chelsea. Can see them taking quite a few loanees inShutup.
